Flower of the Week: Marigold! These flowers are widely known as a natural pest-deterrent, keeping away deer and those pesky, root-eating insects. They are abundant in the Mexican holiday Día de los Mu***os, or Day of the Dead, where they are said to guide the spirits of deceased family members to their homes. In India, they can be found in garlands around homes, thrown as confetti during festivals, and used in offerings to various deities, inviting in prosperity and deterring evil spirits.

Flower of the Week: Cosmos! These are hearty flowers that can survive in poor soil conditions and without much attention (though we like to spoil our flowers here). Cosmos got their name due to their evenly matched petals, symbolizing a beautiful, harmonious universe.

Flower of the Week: Hibiscus! 🌺 Hibiscus is commonly associated with tropical regions, but we have a hardy variety that can overcome winters in the North. Hummingbirds are a big fan, but these scentless flowers only last 1-2 days. Another less showy variety of hibiscus, called Roselle, is used to make tart and delicious tea that is rich in Vitamin C, antioxidants and other minerals, and is believed to reduce the development of cancer and heart disease!

Flower of the Week: Lily! We have an assortment of lilies at the Inn, grown from bulb to flower, including stargazer lilies and starlette lilies. Did you know that lilies do not have standard petals? They have three petals and three sepals that all look the same, which are called tepals. It is customary to gift lilies for 30th wedding anniversaries.
