**New State Record?**

6 months of rain fell in less than 6 hours last night for Kelleys Island. We have now gotten numerous reports of rain totals between 15-17" of rain on the eastern side of the island. The highest total isn't far from the airport at 17.44" of rain. If those totals get confirmed, it would be a new state record for the heaviest rainfall in a 24 hour period. While the state record is technically from Shelby County with a confirmed rain gauge showing 10.75" of rain back in 1995, for all practical purposes the record is from the massive severe weather event on July 4th night in 1969. That system dropped 10-13" of rain in the eastern part of our area with up to 14.8" in Wayne County. That rain total occurred at an "unconfirmed" rain gauge. Regardless if last night's rainfall gets confirmed to set a new state record or not, it was certainly historic!
