Donna Riddle 10/22/1940 - 06/10/2026

She came to Alaska in the mid-eighties for the first time on a business trip for Avon. She met my grandpa, Steve Riddle, in the bar of the Sheraton Hotel while drinking a cup of coffee and never looked back. She had two grown kids, and he had three. They became a perfectly imperfect family.

When she wasn’t being the original “girl boss” running a fishing lodge with my grandpa on the lower Kenai River, she could be found sitting on a stool in the laundry room drinking Diet Pepsi and coffee (often at the same time). Always accompanied during fishing season by her best friend, Terrie Schanhals. She loved to read, and later in her life she cherished the quiet and personal space she found in their home.

She was the OG logistician of this place, and we wouldn’t be what we are today without her initial vision. Rest in Peace Grandma.
