Kendallville Elks Lodge The Kendallville Elks Lodge is a great club to join, with lots of friendly members and wonderful bartenders! Some of the best food around!

The Elks is also a golf course, 9 holes and a terrific course to play. Every Friday night the Elks host a dinner ran by volunteers. The dinners are Steak and Chicken, Angus Burger, Mexican, Fish and every now and then Homemade Pizza! The Elks also host parties and different events in the ballroom.

Allen “Al” C. Countryman, 77, of Kendallville, Indiana died Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Parkview DeKalb Hospital in Auburn.

He was born May 2, 1949, in Gloversville, New York to Chester “Chet” and Eleanor (Gordon) Countryman.

Allen honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He was an Army Recruiter in Kendallville from 1973 to 1977. He then worked as a sales representative and in securities sales for New York Life Insurance and Annuity Corp.

He was a life member of the Kendallville VFW, the Disabled American Vets; and the Kendallville Elks. He was also a member of the Rome City American Legion, Kendallville Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite of Fort Wayne and the Fort Wayne Shriners.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Troy and Andrea Countryman of Viera, Florida; three grandchildren, Piper, Oliver, and Drew Countryman; a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Steven Reith of Fort Wayne.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 7, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.

Visitation will also be on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville.

Honor guard services will be provided by active-duty members of the U.S. Army and the Veterans Honor Guard.

Preferred memorials are to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Noble County Humane Society.
