Hitching Post Lodging The Hitching Post Lodge is in the Black Mesas which is located the Oklahoma Panhandle. A working ranch that has been in our family since 1886.

Choose from a range of activities: view rock formations, star gazing, bird watching, fishing, and trails. Hitching Post Lodging offers a Log Cabin (sleeps 4), Log House (sleeps 6), 101 Rock House (sleeps 11), and the Guest House (sleeps 11). All lodging facilities have fully furnished kitchens. activities such as the best star gazing in the five-state region, breathtaking trail rides, phenomenal bird watching (a birders delight), great fishing, interesting historical caving tours, and fascinating rock formation tours. Visit famous sites of the area such as Ancient Petroglyphs, Dinosaur Quarry Tracks, the Three-State Marker and the Old Santa Fe Trail. Hike the Black Mesa (the highest point in Oklahoma), go fishing at Lake Carl Etling, explore the legendary Robbers' Roost, just to name a few! The Hitching Post also provides a ‘step-on guide’ for tour groups that include ranch activities, scenic tours and a country lunch. Seasonal hunting tours are available with advance reservations. The Hitching Post is nestled between the high mesas in the far western tip of the Oklahoma Panhandle near Kenton, Oklahoma. We are excited to welcome Barbra Coffee, a Certified Economic Develope and the Executive Director of the EDGE division at Oklahoma Department of Commerce, as one of our keynote speakers at the Red Carpet Country Annual Tourism Conference. She is responsible for the state’s business attraction and expansion programs. EDGE (Economic Development, Growth & Expansion) is comprised of the business recruitment, project management and global engagement teams. As the former Director of Economic Initiatives for the City of Tucson, she facilitated over 7,000 new jobs and $2 billion in capital investment from companies like Raytheon and American Battery Factory. Her extensive background includes leading high-profile recruitment in advanced manufacturing and professional sports for the City of Henderson, Nevada. She will be joined by Regional Development Team representatives: Jamie Nichols, North Central Region; Shelby Red Corn, Northwest Region and Maci Graves, Ponca City Main Street.

The Red Carpet Country Annual Tourism Conference is scheduled for Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the Pioneer Technology Center in Ponca City.
