Haleakalā National Park and invite you on a unique cultural interpretive hike that bridges the past and the present.

Your journey begins at the Kīpahulu Visitor Center, where you'll join park rangers for a guided walk through time. The trail leads to the Kapahu Living Farm—a traditional Hawaiian wetland taro (kalo) farm. There, you will learn about Hawaiian ethnobotany and culture from Native Hawaiian guides from the Kīpahulu ʻOhana, who have lovingly managed this sacred space since 1995 in partnership with the park.

Come learn, connect, and experience Kīpahulu.

🥾 Program details: This 2.5-hour program includes two miles of walking, and 350 feet of elevation gain up to the farm. Wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring water, layers, rain gear, and sun protection.
