Severe Weather Preparedness Week:

Lightning often strikes outside the area of heavy rain and may strike as far as 10 miles from any rainfall. Many lightning deaths occur ahead of storms or after storms have seemingly passed. Keep this simple fact in mind: if you can hear thunder, you are in danger. Also, don’t be fooled by blue skies. There is no such thing as “heat lightning.” All lightning comes as a result of a thunderstorm, and if you hear thunder, lightning is close enough to pose an immediate threat to you.

SPRIGGING UPDATES! Hey everyone, we are expecting much warmer weather this week and have a couple of dates we could use some help planting Beach Grass - in Kitty Hawk and South Nags Head!
TUESDAY- Noon (12:00pm), we will meet in the Ocean Boulevard Restaurant Parking Lot and go down to Wilkins Street to do some good down there!
THURSDAY - Also Noon! Meeting in the Jennette's Pier Parking lot and heading down a couple of miles to South Nags Head to augment the dunes there - the location may depend on how many volunteers we have, so meeting at Jennette's Pier would be best.
We are just getting started this year in South Nags Head, and we only have five weeks, so if you know of anyone interested in helping down there, please send them our way! All they need is a little time and a pair of comfortable work gloves. Thank you all!

Join us tomorrow (Monday) at noon for another great day of dune building in Kitty Hawk! We will be meeting in the Ocean Boulevard Parking Lot at noon (12:00pm) and heading up to Fonck Street to add to the work we did last Tuesday! We planted over 400 linear feet of dune line (10+ feet wide added to the 30+ feet already established) and still have a little more to do in that area. et us know if you want to join in!
