***Update - Wednesday, 11/10 at 11:30 a.m.: the beach has re-opened for driving. Please use extreme caution and obey the speed limit of 15 mph. (Reminder: you must have a permit to drive on the beach.)***

***Update - Wednesday, 11/10 at 9:45 a.m.
We'll be assessing the beach during today's high tide around 11:30 a.m. to see if it is possible to re-open it to driving. We'll post an update here if we can re-open the beach today. ***

Friday, 11/ 5 at 11:00 a.m.:
Due the coastal storm and King tide expected to impact our area this weekend, the beach will be closed to driving in Kill Devil Hills beginning tomorrow morning (Saturday, 11/6), due to the hazardous conditions anticipated. Beach driving will remain closed until further notice.

Updates on beach driving closures and other information specific to the Town of Nags Head, NC can be found on their page (Town of Nags Head, NC).

Reminder: Beach driving is ONLY allowed in both towns with a permit.

Good morning Kill Devil Hills! Holes that are dug this deep are hazardous to our patrons, our emergency vehicles, and even sea life. They are a collapse hazard when this deep and can result in serious injury or death. If you’re digging please keep it knee to thigh deep. Remember at the end of your day to refill holes, remove your equipment and dispose of any litter before leaving the beach!
