Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001
a day that forever changed our nation and left an impact on countless families, communities, and first responders.
The Alexandria Police Department was among the many law enforcement agencies called upon to respond in the aftermath of that tragedy. While many of the officers who answered the call that day have since retired, their service and sacrifice remain a part of the Alexandria Police Department’s history.
Some of those officers went on to become members of the Alexandria Police Youth Camp family as members of our APYC Board. They worked countless hours on September 11 and throughout the many days that followed; supporting those affected, assisting their fellow first responders, and helping their community navigate an unimaginable tragedy.
Twenty-five years later, we honor the lives lost and remember the courage, compassion, and dedication of those who served in the days and years that followed.
May we never forget!
