Please contact by calling Carol Buce at (541)934-2333 number, FB messenger and the email address associated with this business account are not guaranteed ways to reach Lands Inn! Lands Inn Bed and Breakfast is located in eastern Oregon. We have 365 acres to roam about on; walk the sod strip (or rather beside it) and catch some breathtaking views of the sunset. Maybe Dad will be landing the Stinson
or maybe Black will be barking at some new arrivals but in all honesty, you will probably be completely alone and taken aback by the beauty and stillness of this place. We are east of Bend about 130 Miles. You can fly-in, drive up or even brave the gravel road by mountain bike (dad does). Stay in a private A-frame cabin off the airstrip or camp out in the huge yard surrounding the hanger (pilots have been know to camp right under their wing). We have three single A-frames, one with a double bed and two with two single beds. These are cute and little and perfect for friends on an adventure or maybe a dog owner (one A-frame is dog friendly but we have cats and our own dog so please keep yours on a leash and always be mindful of the coyotes). On a happier note, all our A-frames are from the Rajneeshee movement that occurred near here in the 80's. This is a crazy story great for campfire talk! All of our buildings have historic significance; the hanger was brought down piece by piece from Washington by my dad and it is very old. If you know aviation, then you know that Jimmy Doolittle is a big name and the fact that he spent time in this hanger is just awesome! You will have to ask Tom for these stories and he will be around, maybe in the shop. Guests staying in one of the three A-frames or camping can use the shared kitchen and bathroom in the hanger. We have a double A-frame with a queen bed and private bathroom and it is our biggest and loveliest room and usually our most popular. We ask that all guests call ahead for reservations and arrive before dark as we are five miles up a gravel road and the hand painted signs leading you up the mountain might not be easily seen after dusk (plus we like to shut the green Powder River gate at night). Our drive way is off of the Hwy 19 section of the Old West Scenic Bike Way and we are in the process of creating a bike shuttle up the road for cyclist (bike rack on Subaru). Give us a call and let’s set up a time to pick you up and maybe talk about what you would like for dinner. We are happy to serve some big portions of hearty food but we will have to coordinate. Cans of Rosita's re-fried beans and Amy's soups are available for the hungry and usually we have some craft brews in the fridge for the thirsty, but not always. Breakfast is often served in a basket on your porch. Lands Inn is very close to the Sheep Rock unit of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument; our driveway starts with in eyesight of the Blue Basin Trail. Biking and fossils are just a couple of the attractions in the area, there are many other quirky places to find and interesting things to do. It is absolutely beautiful here, so any activity will have some amazing scenery in the background. Head to Kimberly and pick a peach from the orchard or get some apple butter from the fruit stand there. Get some penny candy at the mercantile in Dayville and rent bikes for the day. The Mercantile is a one stop shop, liquor, hand made candles, bike shop, etc. There are plenty of day excursions to be done from lands Inn but we find that most of our guests like to just hang out and relax. No Wi-Fi, no TV, no cell service, perfect. Sometimes we don't even have electricity because we are totally solar powered, so leave your power draws behind and be sure to pack a flashlight, or don’t, our skies are so dark at night that star light might just be enough to guide you to the bathroom when the moon is not out (by the way, the 2017 eclipse is just around the corner and we are already taking reservations! To get in on this, see our website.) Its amazing here, you will feel as if you are discovering something very new and special and in many ways you are but lands Inn is not in anyway new or shiny, it is an old kept secret with a younger person like me wanting to get a little more business. Old-timer pilots hate me by now. Come on up! My name is Molly Buce and I hope to hear from you.
