IMPORTANT HALLOWEEN ANNOUNCEMENT — SOMETHING NEW IS AWAKENING AT BELLE GROVE!

It is with disappointment that we announce the cancellation of this year's Haunted Pirates of Port Royal: Curse of the Governor's Mansion.

Due to an unexpected change in our event production team, we are unable to present the Haunted House at the level of quality our guests have come to expect. Rather than offer an experience that falls short of our standards, we have made the difficult decision to cancel.

For those who have already purchased advance tickets, we will be contacting you directly with options for a full refund or an exchange for our new Halloween event.

But you didn't think we were going to let Halloween pass quietly at Belle Grove, did you?

That's a wrap!

Yesterday, despite the cold and rain, we had our Red, White and Bluegrass Festival with Valerie Smith , Jay Armsworthy and Eastern Tradition and Flat Branch.

We had a handful of amazing Specialty Vendors that showed up, rain or shine to help support of event.God bless each of you!

We even had some brave souls support us by coming with umbrellas in hand. By the time Valerie was ready to take the stage, we had just a handful of guests sitting under tents with umbrellas and wearing rain coats and rubber boots. These people had to be die hard Bluegrass fans! We decided to open up the mansion and bring the last performance in. What a glorious finish to a cold, wet day! There is a video of one of the songs on our page.

We wish to thank all that came out to support our first Bluegrass Festival. Can can't tell you how much we appreciate you braving the weather for us!

We wish to thank Valerie Smith, Jay Armsworthy and Eastern Tradition and Flat Branch for amazing Bluegrass music. And thank you to DJ Turtle for the sound.

My Family Travels®
10 Virginia Tea Rooms Ranging From Immersive Historic Gatherings To Traditional British Afternoon Teas
Article By: Amara Blake | June 22, 2026

1. Belle Grove Plantation Bed and Breakfast, King George

Few places in Virginia set the stage for afternoon tea quite like Belle Grove Plantation in King George. The property carries centuries of history in its bones, and stepping onto the grounds feels like walking into a beautifully preserved chapter of American history.

The architecture alone is enough to make your jaw drop before you even think about what’s waiting inside.

Belle Grove operates as a bed and breakfast, which means the tea experience here feels genuinely residential rather than staged. The interiors are rich with period-appropriate furnishings, warm wood tones, and carefully curated antiques that tell stories without needing a single caption.

Light pours through tall windows, casting golden afternoon warmth across rooms that feel both grand and surprisingly intimate.

Tea service at Belle Grove is the kind that encourages you to slow down completely. The plantation setting creates a natural rhythm of unhurried elegance, where conversation flows as easily as the tea itself.

Reservations are essential, and the experience tends to book up quickly, especially during fall when the surrounding landscape turns spectacular.

Located along the Potomac River corridor (we are on the Rappahannock River), Belle Grove also offers access to some genuinely beautiful outdoor scenery. The grounds are peaceful, photogenic, and perfect for a short stroll before or after your tea.

If you want an immersive historic gathering that feels utterly authentic rather than performative, this King George treasure absolutely delivers on every front. Address: 9221 Belle Grove Drive, King George, VA 22485.

Thank you to My Family Travels for the wonderful write up!

Reservations are available through our Tea Page Reservation Service on our website at BelleGrovePlantation.com.
