Twenty thousand people descend on a stretch of North Florida forest every October, and by nightfall the trees are glowing. Suwannee Hulaween takes over the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, an 800-acre spread along three miles of Suwannee River frontage. The festival launched in 2013 with about 4,000 attendees and now fills the park across four days of music, camping, and Halloween costumes. The String Cheese Incident hosts, playing three sets each evening on the Main Stage, with roughly 100 artists spread across the Amphitheater, The Patch, Spirit Lake, and the Campground Stage.

Spirit Lake is the piece people talk about longest. The waterfront and surrounding woods fill with large-scale art installations and lights that turn the area into something closer to a dreamscape than a concert ground, and a silent disco keeps things moving there too. Camping on site is part of the experience, from primitive car camping to RV hookups, and the park adds hiking trails, canoe and kayak rentals, and miles of riverfront to explore between sets.
