It's that time of year again! Pickamania 2025 is this coming weekend, featuring award-winning musicians and songwriters, and the crowd-favorite "super-jam"! Black Range Vineyards will be on hand with their tasty NM wines. Plus Scott Brocato, from KRWG, will be the M.C. Pickamania is sponsored by the Sierra County Arts Council.

Free Irish Music Concert

We're currently hosting the Portal Irish Music Week, an amazing group of fine fiddlers, flute and mandolin players, even some accordians in the mix!
Tomorrow the faculty will play a free concert at our outdoor pavilion at 7pm. The concert features world class Irish musicians including Brian Conway, Marla Fibish, Colin Lindsay, Shannon Heaton, Frances Cunningham and Pete Strickler.

The Saturday evening concert is free, with free parking on Main Street. Beer and wine will be available from Black Range Vineyards. For more information see the attached poster or call us at 575-895-5652.

We're hosting a STAR PARTY on Sunday, May 27th from 6:30 - 10pm. Beginning with a pot-luck BBQ, then an indoor presentation at 8pm from professor John T. Stocke about the Secrets of Polynesian Navigation. At full dark (9pm-ish) we'll head outside to view the dark night sky with Dr. Stocke who, with a high-powered laser pointer, will locate Constellations of Ancient Cultures, from Greek, to Roman, and native American traditions. The Portal Irish Music Week is offering a free faculty concert at the outdoor pavilion of the Black Range Lodge in Kingston, this Saturday, Sept. 23 at 7pm. The educational “camp” instructors are world class Irish musicians including Brian Conway, Marla Fibish, Steph Geremia, Matt Heaton, Colin Lindsay, and Pete Strickler.

Black Range Vineyards will be on hand to provide beverages, including New Mexico wine and beer.

Founded in 2011 Portal Irish Music Week, strives to provide a gateway into the world of playing Irish Traditional Music, especially for folks who are coming to the music later in life.

Formerly hosted in Portal, AZ, P.I.M.W. has a new home in Kingston, NM. The camp consists of 5 days of classes, with a scattering of music workshops, sessions, a Saturday concert, bird watching, and nature hikes, truly making it like a summer camp for adults.

September 8, 9, & 10 is Pickamania! weekend -- an annual outdoor acoustic music festival that we are hosting at the Lodge. The entire event will be a tribute to founder Bill Bussmann, who passed away in May. On Sunday there will be a special Celebration of Life. Details will follow.

Pickamania is sponsored by the Sierra County Arts Council (SCAC).
