Hi friends and family!
2023 was a big year for the Callahan’s.
Our most important big event was welcoming our sweet, and incredibly joyful little boy, Beckham, in June. But prior to his arrival, we also birthed a new adventure that’s been in the “dreaming of someday” stage for a while. Almost a year ago now- in April last year, we bought a house to run as a short term rental (think Airbnb/VRBO.) We’ve been talking about this for a few years and after learning as much as we could from podcasts and books and other short term rental investors, we finally took the jump. We were confident that short term rental ownership was something that would complement both of our skill sets and loves well- hospitality, design, business, adventure, meeting new people, personal travel, and fun!
We knew we wanted to buy somewhere we would want to visit personally-with our top choices being the beach, Disney World, or the mountains.
We chose Disney for its year-round demand and because it’s only 1-2 hours to some of the best beaches in the country, so it checked two boxes. We took it on as a family from the start, involving the kids with researching houses and locations. Once we closed on the house, it was all hands on deck to renovate and redecorate and deep clean that house. The kids each chose a theme for their bedroom and did so much of the design and decorating themselves! We built an incredible team with the best contractors and now the best cleaners!
It took A LOT more work than we thought it would to get it up and running. We worked on it (while living in the house!) until 3 weeks before I had Beckham and then went back to work 2 weeks after he was born! I 10/10 would NOT recommend tackling a project like this while 9 months pregnant-several weeks postpartum, but we learned so much and made the house ours. After *literal* blood, sweat, and (many!) tears, we got it up and able to rent in August. There is so much we still want to do and improve in the house, but we are so proud of how it turned out and are so happy to have a place that is so comfortable, convenient, clean, and ✨whimsically✨ charming. We call our magical place Windsor Whimsy.
So, if you, or your family, or your friend, or your neighbor, or your coworker, or that lady in line at the grocery store happens to be planning a trip to Disney World may I ask that you consider checking us out? At 10-15 minutes to the Disney parks, we are as convenient as the Disney resorts with the added luxury of space and amenities! (We are about 30 minutes to Universal or Sea World, if that is more your jam!) And with 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a full kitchen, a game room, your own full sized pool and hot tub, covered lanai, and full access to resort community amenities- including a lagoon style pool, waterslides, and waterpark- you may want to skip the parks and never leave the resort! We are on Airbnb and VRBO, but you can avoid paying their fees by booking directly with us through our website.
