Liftoff from Launch Complex 39A is set for 7:25 a.m. EDT / 11:25 UTC. The Falcon Heavy center core, booster B1105-1, will be expended during this mission. The two side boosters, B1072-3 and B1104-1, will attempt Return to Launch Site landings at Cape Canaveral's Landing Zones 2 and 40, respectively.
The sole payload on this flight to the Sun-Earth L2 Lagrange Point will be the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope (Roman), a wide-field space telescope using a primary mirror identical in diameter as NASA's Hubble Space Telescope's, but allowing for a field of view at least 100 times larger than what Hubble's cameras can achieve. Roman is one of NASA's large strategic science missions (also known as flagship missions). It has a launch mass of 10,150 kg.
The mission will launch on a due East trajectory from the Cape, and Space Launch Delta 45 forecasts a 50% chance of favorable weather conditions for launch.
