A Smiling Bear Fishing Gear will be at the Farmer's Market in Kodiak on Saturday, August 17th. The Market is open 11am to 1pm.

The third annual Downtown Eagle Count took place over the weekend!

🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅

Eleven Refuge staff and volunteers broke up into 5 groups and tallied all the adult and subadult Bald Eagles in four downtown sectors (Gibson Cove, Cannery Row, Downtown Proper, and Dog Bay Harbor) plus the landfill.

Here are our total counts for the past three winters:
March 16, 2024 - Total Bald Eagles = 823 (472 Adult/351 Subadult)
March 18, 2023 - Total Bald Eagles = 1002 (507 Adult/495 Subadult)
Feb. 19, 2022 - Total Bald Eagles = 605 (399 Adult/206 Subadult)

Cannery row was the sector with the most eagles - 279, followed closely by the landfill with 265.
