Tiffany and I went up Aug 4 this year for an early look at the deer population this year. Lots of brush and grass, but a beautiful day! We spotted 11 deer total, including a nice 3 pt buck we hunted and were close to harvesting, until he faded into the tall grass and never got an ethical opportunity to press the trigger. We spotted a couple of other bucks, so figure 3 bucks and 8 does/fawns. It was a gorgeous hike, and as always, the first 500' of elevation gain involved chest high grass and brush. Can't wait to go again, and are very happy with the deer we spotted. We're looking forward to a productive deer and elk season!

Gooood luck tomorrow!!! A few pics from last season:

Tim just sent me this pic, I like it. A bit of what hunting is like here, minus the comfortable 'lodge' part. Arrive,. Zero your r***e at our 100 yard range (shooting bench pictured). Get on Boat. Climb steep mountain with lots of alders. Look for deer or elk, climb back down steep mountain covered in alders. Get on boat. Revel in what you just accomplished, regardless of how sore you are! Repeat tomorrow. This is hunting for hunters.
