China Flat Campground

Well...

We quit our jobs as camphosts today and moved back home to Nevada.

As far as we know, the campground will remain open without a host in residence. I'm sure someone will be up to collect money and stock toilet paper every day. I'm also sure things won't be as clean as you are used to.

We'll miss you all very much!

We're keeping this page open so people can still comment and post photos of their adventures at China Flat. It was a good 12+ years.

The river is down - let the tubing commence! But be careful...

Please - NO TUBING DOWN THE RIVER FROM THE DAY USE BEACH!

You will not be able to get out at your usual spots - the river is just too fast right now.

If you do insist on risking your life, at least wear a life jacket and shoes. Come on people, be smart. This isn't Disneyland, it's the wilderness.

The river is dropping. These rocks were totally under water a week ago. Not good for swimming yet, tho.

GATE IS OPEN!!!

We passed our inspection, of course🙂. We're still waiting on the results of the water test, which we will hopefully have by noon on Friday, May 26. If we pass water, we will open. If we do not pass water, we will be unable to open until we pass. Check back here around noon for the results!

Silverfork Campground will not open for at least another two weeks, due to hazard trees on the ground.

Gray Rock Campground will not be open this year because of the Caldor Fire.

Update: we're waiting to be inspected and for our water to be tested.

We will not open the walk-in sites until we have a golf cart, and that isn't looking like it will happen any time soon.

Silverfork will not open this weekend unless there is a miracle wind that picks up all the tree trunks and branches that were chopped down last week.

We're slogging along with cleanup and hoping to open this coming Friday. We'll let you know for sure when we know for sure!

The river is HIGH and WIDE and FAST. The beach is flooded and the path to the "beach" and the Harvey West Cabin is impassable in the evenings. (Water is being let out of Caples Lake.)
