The last full week of the 2026 season for La Veta Pines RV Park has arrived. The colors on the pass are really coming along. Worth taking a drive along Hwy 12 for sure.

There will be another Farmers Market in La Veta on Thursday by the Library 3-5pm. The veggies are so delicious as are all the other wonderful goods for sale.

Thursday La Veta Mercantile has Open Mic hosted by Joe Young.
Call 719 742-3387 or message the Mercantile and they’ll get you on the list.

Oct. 3 is the 40th annual La Veta Oktoberfest - one of the biggest celebrations in Huerfano County. Enjoy a Bier Garden, Hot Rod show, lots of local vendors, yummy culinary delights and live music from the Alan Polivka Band and D'Boonies. Festivities begin at 10am and will continue until 6pm.

On Sunday, Oct. 4, you can watch the Broncos at Mountain Merman Brewing Company. Doors open at 2pm for a 2:25pm kick-off.

It sure has been a really fun summer here in La Veta. If you missed us this year, be sure to watch for activities and open reservations for next year both here and on our web page.

A drive on Tuesday along the Highway of Legends provided some beautiful opportunities to enjoy the early color burst. It should be absolutely stunning this weekend. Perfect timing for the Cuchara Village Oktoberfest. A link will be posted in the comments so you can see all the activities they have planned.

Tonight is Thirsty Thursday Game night at Veta Mercantile. It often is well attended and worth your time to stop in for a beverage and some healthy competition.

Michael and Dianne will be performing Friday night 5-8 at The Timbers Steaks and Spirits in Cuchara.

Sunday night football with the Rams vs Broncos at Mountain Merman Brewing Company doors opening at 5:30pm.

The National Scenic Byway Association has officially designated September 22nd as National Scenic Byway Day, establishing a new annual celebration dedicated to recognizing and preserving America's most exceptional and treasured driving routes. Coincidentally, the Scenic Highway of Legend's was designated as a Colorado Scenic Byway on September 22 and a National Scenic Byway in 2021. The Colorado Road Trip Weekend also lands on that weekend, September 25-27, 2026, aligned with National Public Lands Day and prime leaf peeping. Take this opportunity to get out and discover all that the SHOL has to offer. A National Forest, 2 State Parks, 10 Lakes, 5 State Wilderness Areas, a National Natural Landmark, hundreds of miles of trails to hike, bike, or ride a horse on.

We wanted to give one more big shout out and thanks to the businesses that participated in our Fourth of July Poker Run this year. This sweet little town relies on the cooperations and kindness of good neighbors and we are so grateful for ours.

Most of you that are here now know this weekend is FULL of amazing musical enjoyments in La Veta and beyond. We hope everyone is enjoying the energy of the Spanish Peaks Celtic Festival.

The weather is changing. Just in time for the Spanish Peaks International Celtic Music Festival which starts Thursday and runs through Sunday. The forecast says we can anticipate 70-75 degrees with a few rain showers and some thunderstorms, so bring a jacket. A link to the festival webpage will be in the comments.

Be sure to check out La Veta Mercantile for activities. There is a bevy of activities scheduled this week, starting with tonight's "Around the Table" at 6pm. The theme this week is Angels and All Things Mystical.

Thursday is the Farmers Market held in front of the library 3-5pm. That is also the first day of the Celtic Festival.

Saturday is the Cucharas Cup at Grandote Peaks Golf Course. Contact them to register.

We still have a couple spaces for 30' or smaller for this busy weekend. Call today and plan your getaway.

Winter is coming but there's still time for a weekend trip in the RV before you have to winterize it. We still have availability for some big weekends coming up in La Veta:

This weekend's entertainment starts with Friday Night BINGO at the La Veta Mercantile starting at 6pm. Prizes up to $200! Cards are $5. It's bound to be a rowdy time for all.

On Saturday from noon to 3pm the 1899 Java House will have Michael Steward playing. This is a great place to start a weekend with some delicious treats, tea and shopping.

Then you can stroll down to the SPACe Gallery at 132 W. Ryus Ave. to Meet The Artists AL Clyumer and his group of emerging local artists from 4-6pm. Local food and w**e available.

For the evening, starting at 6 pm you can enjoy singer/songwriter Seth Walker at Mountain Merman Brewing Company. Limited seating and tickets are required.

Cuchara Yacht Club has live music on their patio Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 5pm daily.

It's great weather for all the activities you might enjoy. Hiking, biking, kayaking, a picnic, or just a walk around town and maybe an end of summer ice cream at Charlies Market.

Come spend the weekend and end the summer season with us, having some small town Southern Colorado fun.

The colors are coming, the colors are coming.

The predictions are that due to the drought, this year's fall foliage will be showing a bit early.

On a recent drive from Trinidad to La Veta over the pass, there were a few leaves showing color. By the end of September, it should be a very pretty drive.

We have just one month left before we close down for the winter. The weekend for Oktoberfest is already fully booked. The weekend of the Celtic Festival, we have a few openings. The time is now if you want to come share in the last days of summer here at La Veta Pines RV Park. You won't be disappointed if you come for a visit, but you may regret it if you don't book now before there's no days left.

It's a beautiful early fall day here in La Veta this Labor Day Monday. Perfect weather for exploring the area. Take the Highway of Legends Drive. Head to the Sand Dunes for the day. Go visit Bishops Castle. There are so many options within an easy drive from your base camp at La Veta Pines RV Park.

There are always a few local activities here in town if you prefer to stay close to camp.

Our friends at La Veta Mercantile host a community coffee at 10 every Tuesday. On Wednesday at 1pm they set up Mah-jong for anyone who wants to join in.

Thursday the Friends of Spanish Peaks Library Book Sale is 10am-3pm. Support the local library and your own pursuit of knowledge by shopping local and loading up your book shelves.

Then there is the Farmers Market Thursday afternoon at 3-5pm next to the library. Get there early for the line up to wait for your veggies. Local and fresh are hot commodities these days. If you miss the veggies here in town you can head to Cuchara on Friday afternoon 4-6pm and shop there.

The Celtic Festival is upon us just around the corner. We still have availability for one 40 foot RV and a few openings for smaller. It's going to be a fun weekend. Hope to see you soon.
