The first week of September is upon us. Kiddos are headed back to school. The evenings are getting cooler. It's a perfect time to visit La Veta. The Spanish Peaks Wilderness area is greening up with the rains. The fires are being managed and roads have opened back up.

Bishops Castle is standing tall and open for visitors. Enter at your own risk. Most definitely a must-see in the area and a beautiful drive to get there. You can see areas where the recent Aspen Acres Fire did its damage, and the early restoration work already underway.

Today at 11-1pm you can enjoy Backyard Bass at the Martin Swim Beach at Lathrop park. It's a class to help the kids learns to cast and reel.

This afternoon at 4pm you can enjoy Lucas Work at the Yacht Club.

On Tuesday at 7pm special guest Darrell Scott will be at the La Veta Mercantile. He is a Grammy nominated songwriter and the 2025 Americana Music Association Lifetime Achievement Awared Recepient. TIckets are $25.

The Farmers Market continues. La Veta Market is next to the library on Thursdays 3-5pm. Cuchara Farmers Market is on Friday 4-6pm at the Cuchara Mountain Mercantile.

Make your reservations now to enjoy the offerings of the area while you can. Our season will be coming to an end the second weekend in October. Call 719-742-3252 today.

What an extraordinary experience we all had this weekend at the Antiques at the Peaks 2026 Vintage Trailer Rally. Everyone involved had a wonderful time!

We want to give a big shout-out of appreciation to Mountain Merman Brewing Company for creating the Rally King beer and a welcoming space for the happy hour we all enjoyed Friday night.

As well, a big applause to Danaes Diner for feeding our guests and many of the community that couldn't pass by the enticing aromas of pulled pork and pulled chicken that were emanating across the park.

We really enjoyed all our guests that chose to participate with us this year - both those with the vintage trailers, and community members that came to the tour.

Awards were given to:
(Corrected from original post!!)

1. Crowd Favorite - 1962 Streamline Duke from Colorado Springs
2. Best in Show - “Silvie” - 1957 Dalton from Colorado Springs
3. Oldest Camper - 1955 Boles Aero Miramar from Edwards
4. Furthest Haul - “Little Bud” - 1964 Yellowstone Cabover G from Durango

All of the trailers will be featured in the coming weeks here on our page. We look forward to sharing for those who couldn't attend.

Next year’s rally is already being discussed. It will take place August 13-15. Many of this year's participants have already booked. We hope to see you there.

And finally, thanks to our beloved family and friends that always show up and help us make this dream come true. We love sharing it with you all.
