“The Mountain” is a Vision for the future of our nation’s Veterans, the county of Huerfano, the Cuchara Mountain, and the entire southern region of Colorado. Our Vision is to build a resort-style village and recreation area designed and built for the recovery and wellness of our Veterans. We are a group of Veterans dedicated to the mental and physical health of our nation’s Vets. The Mountain started as an idea for a Veteran PTSD resort and retreat. It has grown into so much more. We are working to build a fully encompassing experience. “Entertainment under the Stars.” The Mountain will have multiple team building exercises and Obstacle Courses that are exact copies of a few of our great nation’s Basic training courses, PTSD and TBI Rehab therapy clinics, multiple primitive camping and RV spots, and a plethora of physical outdoor activities. A place for all to come relax and enjoy themselves, all while being able to hang out, support, and help our Veterans. Maybe even get a little help themselves. It's all about recovery, healing, fun and changing lives.
The local area is a perfect place for people to get away, and relax. We aim to attract multiple businesses to the area to help with the economic development of the region, as well as creating a new source of full-time job opportunities for our local populace. Colorado stands out amongst all other states for their avid support of their Veterans. The people, the place, and the mission make the mountain. The Mountain doesn’t make the people. The goal is to show every veteran, their family, and friends, they are not forgotten, never broken by hardship or battle... Duty First.
