Transforming Our Parks: 2 Years of Dedicated Habitat Restoration 🌳
Over the past two years, we’ve embarked on many habitat projects, and the results are truly remarkable! These three photos tell the story of dedication, hard work, and a profound commitment to restoring our local parks.

Photo 1: The Initial Challenge. This area was completely overrun by invasive species and dense, inaccessible brush. The first step was bringing in specialized equipment, like the forestry mulcher pictured, to clear the path. It was a massive undertaking!
Photo 2: Progress & Potential. With the initial clearing complete, you can start to see the bones of the landscape emerging. We focused on removing non desirable trees and undergrowth while carefully preserving valuable native species, like the prominent white poplars and Oaks seen here. This stage revealed the area's potential.
Photo 3: A Vibrant, Native Landscape. Just look at it now! What once was a choked and inaccessible tangle is now a stunning, healthy grassland and woodland savanna ecosystem. The vibrant greens, wildflowers, and open views showcase the successful return of a native plant community that hadn’t been seen here for decades.
What We’ve Achieved:
The "Pre-Settlement" Vision: Our primary goal was to return this parcel to a condition reminiscent of its historically native state, before invasive species took over. By reintroducing native plants and restoring a more open structure, we are supporting a wider variety of wildlife and a healthier overall ecosystem.
Improving Park Accessibility: This isn't just a win for nature – it's a win for you! The clearing of dense, invasive thickets has significantly opened up this part of the park. It’s now far more accessible for walking, wildlife watching, and simply enjoying the beauty of nature. This is your park, and we want to make it as welcoming and open as possible.
This incredible transformation is the result of tireless effort, careful planning, and a deep love for our natural spaces. We are so proud of what we've accomplished, and we can’t wait for you all to experience it firsthand.
