After a Six month wait for the parts, the Internet has finally been upgraded from 1 gig to 3 gig.  Speeds throughout the park should be significantly higher. I upgraded the ‘head end’ system with the latest technology.  That’s the part where the Internet comes into the park and then gets distributed. The new system was built with future expansion of band width in mind. No expense was spared in this upgrade. I understand how important it is to have fast Internet.

As many of you know our DIRECTV went dark July 27. At first we thought it was just a nationwide outage, but a few hours later I received a phone call from Mike Faddis. He explain to me that his company had now taken over our contract. He works for Groove Technology Solutions out of Salt Lake City. After a bit of talking around in circles, we got to the meat and potatoes of his call. He told me I had to immediately sign a five-year contract or our services would never be restored. I ask him, since our DIRECTV had been paid through the end of August to restore service while we negotiated through the contract. He said there was no negotiation and that I would sign his contract, end of story. Ask him if there was cost containment written into the contract. He said no. In other words, they could raise our rates any amount, at any time. Obviously, he thought he had me over a barrel and that I would do anything to restore service immediately. What a horrible way to do business!
I called my attorneys and explain the situation and they said it was not worth the fight. They went on to explain that they have heard this many times in the last six months. Apparently DIRECTV is a sinking ship and they are getting very desperate for revenue. This was confirmed by a quick Google search.
I called DIRECTV and they said Mike Faddis was the guy who is now in charge of our account and if I wanted anything done I had to deal with him.
As you can imagine, I will not be signing a five-year unconditional contract. This means DIRECTV will not be restored. I was completely blindsided by this and deeply regret any inconvenience that causes any of you.
I want you to understand that I will take the money that would’ve gone to DIRECTV between now and the end of the year and credit that to our expenses to help offset future rent increases.

Update on the pool……
I’m sure you’ve been wondering what’s going on with the pool at clubhouse three. The bottom line is that we are waiting for the delivery of the two pool packs that contain the pool pumps. They were ordered six months ago and we’re still waiting for them. The pool packs have to go in the ground first before anything else can be done. That’s because everything gravity feeds back to them .  once they are sad then all the rest of the pipes leading to them can be put in at the proper elevation. We’ve been told that the supply chain is all screwed up, but they will be headed our way the second they are available.
I wish I had better news to report, but we will get there as quick as we can!

Official Announcement!!!
As many of you know I have been promising a pool at the third clubhouse for a couple of years. I have been trying for over a year just to get a pool contractor to give me a bid for the construction. And for this year I was told that the world has changed and that they (the contractors) were so far behind that they didn’t want to give me a bid. They couldn’t get materials and labor had all but dried up. Apparently, the stimulus checks made a bunch of laborers not want to come to work. I was told by three contractors that they would give me a bid this spring. Nope. And now, as some of you may have noticed, gas, lumber, concrete, steel, etc. have gone through the roof since January. PVC pipe production is at an all time low and very hard to come by, in fact certain sizes are not being produced. Needless to say, this make the pool contractors not just scared, but terrified to give me a bid. They can not predict what they are actually going to pay for materials. So, this has left us in a bad place.
Never to be beat, I started to think of new ways to help us get a pool and help the pool contractor obtain a comfort level that they were not going to loose the shirt off their back if volatility is the new normal. As a result, I was able to work out the details with Hans from Flamingo Pools from Punta Gorda. He is a third generation pool builder that comes highly recommended from other Rv Resort owners. The building and health department permits have been applied for and are expected back within a month. Materials, all of them, are being ordered as I write this so we are able to lock down the prices on these. Actual construction of the pool may not start until the fall. Hans will not commit to a finish date as he does not have control of many factors that can delay the finish by months. He just said he will try his best to get it finished as quickly as possible. So finally, there is light at the end of the tunnel. We will all have to be patient through the build and then have a pool party when it’s completed!!

We’ve created a small retention pond in front of the park. Hopefully this will alleviate some of the water problems when we experience another flash flood.
