Hope Chapel Guesthouse Built in 1844 and tastefully reimagined as a private home and guest house in 2023, Hope Chapel is known as Lafayette’s oldest standing Church.

Now open for tours and overnight guests and private bookings Now open for overnight guests, historical and ghost tours this home has a deep, rich history and has had past lives a many things such as a textile school, multiple congregations, a brief stint as a funeral home, and has physically moved locations four times by horse and hand and has even been lost in a hand of poker by a wayward judge! The amazing and true story of hope chapel is one that is meant to be told, one that the current owners were completely unaware of when they purchased the dilapidated and vacant church in 2021 but one that they are now passionate about sharing. Come catch Brittney Bickett from From Ashes to Echoes Paranormal, Beverly Clendenen and Eric Hintz who will be coming together for the first night of the tour to deliver en epic start! Can’t make next Sunday? Tours are every Thursday and Sunday until 10/30!!

The process to obtaining and restoring Hope Chapel was quite the journey that many locals know nothing about. It took over a year of offers and negotiations to even purchase the dilapidated and neglected building from a reluctant seller, followed by over $250k in restorations and changes that needed to be made to bring the 172 year old building up to current safety and building codes. This was no light lift or fly-by-night Instagram flip. Every choice intentional, every decision made with love and the result is one our family will cherish and pass down. Thank you to everyone who showed us support during the long and winding process to breathe life back into Hope Chapel Guesthouse, a fully restored and historically protected building that we truly enjoy sharing with locals and travelers alike.

A little sneak peak into the history of Hope Chapel, this photo was likely taken in the early 1900s shortly after the church located for its fourth and final location. Primarily a space used to educate the children of canal-era Lafayette to keep them safe, fed and off the streets.
