If you've ever dreamed of seeing an incredibel meteor shower, I can tell you from experience this one is amazing. And, we have availability during it's peak. You can't get a better vantage point to view a meteor shower than 8,500 feet above sea level in the least populated county in the lower 48.

The second I saw this field of flowers I wished to see an animal walk through it. I didn’t care what animal, just anything. That pretty much never happens so I contented myself to photograph the landscape as the sunset lit up Mt. Sneffels miles away. After all that was the reason I was at the location anyway.

Then 10 minutes later my dream came true! A black bear walked across the field and headed straight for the flowers in front of me! I hurriedly changed from my wide angle lens to the telephoto, and forgot all about the landscape! But wait there’s more! She had 2 cubs with her!! I didn’t see them at first because the flowers were so high, but occasionally they would pop out for a second and then disappear again. (Notice the flower with fur and ears behind the mom!) The sun lit the clouds up, and Sneffels with alpenglow like I had hoped, but I was busy watching the mom eat flowers while the cubs played around behind her climbing fallen aspens and attack the flowers for the last thirty or so minutes of light.
