Elks Lodge 893

Elks Lodge 893 We are a place where neighbors come together, families share meals, and children grow up. Who are the Elks? Elks are community. Elks Care, Elks Share.

No matter where you go in the country, an Elks Lodge is right around the corner. With more than 850,000 members and 2,000 Lodges nationwide, Elks are providing charitable services that help build stronger communities. Elks Lodges bring so much more to their communities than just a building, golf course or pool. They are places where neighbors come together, families share meals, and children grow

up. Elks invest in their communities through programs that help children grow up healthy and drug-free, by undertaking projects that address unmet need, and by honoring the service and sacrifice of our veterans. Are YOU an Elk?

MEDIA ALERT – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Elks Lodges Nationwide to Celebrate Flag Day

Chicago, IL – June 14, 2026 – As the nation celebrates America 250, thousands of Americans will gather at Elks Lodges across the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Panama Canal Zone to honor Flag Day, continuing one of the country’s oldest and most distinguished patriotic traditions.

Long before Flag Day became an official federal observance, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks was honoring the American flag. In 1908, the Elks Grand Lodge formally established June 14 as Flag Day, making the Elks the only fraternal organization in the nation that mandates an annual formal Flag Day ceremony in every Lodge.

The Elks’ unwavering commitment to patriotism helped elevate Flag Day into the national spotlight. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson officially proclaimed June 14 as Flag Day, and in 1949, President Harry S. Truman—an Elks member from Independence, Missouri—signed legislation permanently recognizing it as a national observance.

As America marks its 250th anniversary, the Elks continue to stand among the nation’s leading forces for patriotism, charity, and community service. For 158 years, Elks members have strengthened communities and supported the nation through service and generosity, contributing more than $15 billion in charitable donations nationwide.

In 2025 alone, Elks members donated an estimated $550 million in cash, goods, and volunteer service supporting veterans, youth programs, scholarships, food initiatives, and critical local community needs.

With 1,841 Lodges and 800,000 members nationwide, the Elks continue to promote American values, civic pride, and love of country in communities large and small.

“During America’s 250th anniversary year, Flag Day carries even greater meaning,” said Elks officials. “It is a celebration of our nation’s history, our freedoms, and the enduring unity symbolized by the American flag.”

Communities are encouraged to attend local Elks Flag Day ceremonies and experience a patriotic tradition that has inspired generations of Americans for more than a century.

Lake City Elks Lodge 893 members participated in an AED (automated external defibrillator) training session at the lodge, led by Wes Hunter, STAT Medical Training director. STAT Medical Training is a group of health care providers throughout North Florida who deliver medical training to meet the requirements set by clients’ employers, college programs and professional agencies. The class was both informative and hands-on, giving participants greater confidence in responding to emergencies.

Members Pam Hyde and Bebe Willis assisted the lodge in securing a $1,400 grant from their employer, Nutrien, a global provider of crop inputs and services, which helped pay for the lodge’s new AED machine. In lieu of payment to STAT for their training, the lodge made a $350 donation to the Fort White High School HOSA program. Health Occupations Students of America is a student-led organization that helps prepare future health professionals through leadership, service and hands-on learning.

At Fort White High in Fort White, the program gives students opportunities to build health care skills, engage in community service and explore careers in the medical field. This partnership not only strengthened the lodge’s preparedness but also supported students in their journey toward health care careers.
