Checking in! How's everyone doing in this rain?

Diva has had some issues with her weight lately that we're working on, so she got blanketed up to stay nice and cozy! Aramis.... I'm pretty sure the buckets of water dumped on us last night didn't even permeate his hair and he's still completely dry one layer down. This is the weather of his people, he was made for this.

Hooves are my new obsession.

I was able to start learning how to barefoot trim in Australia at the end of last year, and have been taking this education and new skill very seriously ever since. I still have lots to learn and practice (and strength to build because boy is it physical), but so far it's been going well and I've been able to keep my ponies happy! Eventually this will be a service I can offer to clients whose horses I'm working with, but I want to make sure I have a very solid grasp of high quality hoof care. In the meantime, be prepared to see more feet pics 😉😆

🦘 Australia 🇦🇺
There's no way to fit into only ten photos all that this trip encapsulated, but Instagram ain't got time for that.
Lots of beauty, lots of bones, and lots of time with the baby. Lots of roos, a few rainbows, and plenty of reflection on if this decision was crazy!

So how about these fires huh?
Jackson, Aramis, and Diva all evacuated before it was recommended, because the roads in and out of the canyon are not to be messed with, and this way, knowing they were already safe, I was able to take my trailer and go help evacuate others that needed it.
I'm extremely thankful I have a great truck, 3 horse trailer, and the ability to help. Also extremely thankful for the wonderful horse community - my horses are safe and so comfortable and looked after right now.. The incredibly sweet barn owner where they're living helped us find this place and has also been a huge help. We are so so lucky.
Here are some photos from the first sightings, the next day, Jackson eating happily in his temporary home, and my new best friend I helped move 🥰

Lessons have been fun! Two students passed their tests recently, giving us a new Level 2 rider and a new Level 3 rider! I'm just hoping we're nearing our last "bath days" 🥵🥵🥵
It is in the plans that in the next year to year and a half, Diva and Jackson will retire from lessons so they can enjoy their time doing more activities they enjoy with a more one-on-one relationship. They'll either stick with SSRA to do this, or may find a new family that wants to take them on for their retirement. Either way you'll still see updates of them here ❤️

Well well well, if it isn't that trainer chick who disappeared from social media last year only to pop back up again without warning.
Hello all! It's time for an update! I'll do a few posts to fit in all the pics I want to share, but here's a quick, crazy recap:
Living in Australia for 3.5 months was hard. I learned a lot and came back with a lot of new views and goals. But it was hot, more humid than I've ever experienced, isolated, and there might have been more insects than air. It was challenging in a lot of ways, but I'm definitely grateful for all of the chapters of my life and extremely happy to be home.
Silver Stirrup is teaching minimal lessons again, but now includes Conneqted Equine Training, which will evolve to offer a holistic approach to helping owners with their horses in an approach that considers the body and mind. The path that I'm on now is one that focuses more on the physical and biomechanical aspect of the horse, and only partially on training. This is because of all my studying, I've found that understanding the entire body and the way it's designed and functions is inescapably essential to understanding the psychology of the horse and the ability to be a great, truly effective trainer. For the next year, I'll be taking courses to be a certified equine body worker, as well as continuing my education on barefoot trimming. It's been a crazy ride, but I'm truly loving this path.

I'll be moving away from what Silver Stirrup has been for the last decade, only teaching a few lessons a week, and slowly retiring my few lesson horses into an easy life they deserve. However, it will always be apart of the world I want to create for equestrians. Who knows what the future holds? I have a feeling I will always come back to educating others in some form or another. In the meantime, I'll still be teaching and training here and there, and I'll try to post more of the journey!

Hey all, so California is already on fire (as it generally is), and this is a scary thing for anyone with horses. I recently attended a large animal fire safety meeting and want to be proactive both for my own horses, and others! If you don't have a trailer, or someone already lined up to come pick up your horses in an emergency, message me. I have a 3 horse in good condition and can be available on short notice for emergency situations. My trailer is currently located in Modjeska canyon. I'm happy to exchange numbers and have a plan.

Long wait = HUGE UPDATE:

That's it! Everyone is in their new temporary homes and we're all moved out/in and set!
For those that don't know, Liza is leaving for Australia one week from today (eeek) for some intense horse time. You'll hear more about this later! In the meantime (around 4 months), the horses need places to stay - and they all found perfect places to be taken care of and looked after. As of today everyone is officially moved and settled!!! Aramis, Chex, and Diva are all in Murietta at 3 different places, all private homes where someone will always be around, and all 3 are out in pasture with lots of space! Jackson went back to Serrano where he will be with who used to lease him, and already knows and loves him, in a place he already knows and feels comfortable. It's pretty perfect!
There will be more updates ahead about each horse and about the trip!
