I have the distinct privilege of knowing the Layman family, the owners and operators of what was once The Venice Beach Suites & Hotel. Sadly the politics of the city started the end of an era, the hotel was forced to become an apartment building. This once landmark building gave people from all over the country including my bonus Dad in 1932 a safe place to stay and make memories while enjoying the unique atmosphere of Venice Beach. For 33 years the Layman Family restored and rejuvenated this landmark preserving the quaint comfortable rooms and gave it life that was shared by thousands of unique guests. It was safe haven to me many times including this very day 4 years ago when I woke on the one year anniversary of my Moms passing, hearing the ocean and smelling the salt air (Moms favorite) I found peace in my heart.
Thank you Andy and RoseMarie for sharing you wisdom, kindness, but more than anything your time being a friend! You are the real treasure in this story. So we may have shared our last glass of wine on this rooftop but God willing we will have the opportunity to find many more rooftops to hop from sharing wine, telling stories and making memories as you write the next chapter in your book of life. May God Bless you and your family with health & happiness. As they say in the movies, Thanks for the memories!!!!
