The Olympic Winter Games begin tomorrow in Milano Cortina, bringing nearly 3,000 athletes from 90 nations to the world stage.

It’s a powerful reminder of how much the Games have grown, and how Lake Placid helped shape that legacy.

In 1932, 252 athletes from 17 nations gathered here. By 1980, it grew to 1,072 athletes from 37 nations.

No matter the size, the spirit has always been the same: the world coming together through winter sport.

We’re especially cheering on our local athletes who were born and raised here, those who live here now, and the countless that have trained and competed on our historic venues over the years... along with every athlete chasing their Olympic dream.
