The Sound of Spring Is Starting Now at Three Pines Campground đ¸đ¸
Even before opening day arrives, something special is already happening here.
It starts quietlyâthen suddenly, the night comes alive.
On these first mild evenings after a stretch of cold, the familiar chorus has begun. That gentle sound echoing across the lake isnât insects or birds. Itâs our local frogsâespecially the tiny but mighty spring peepersâannouncing that spring has officially arrived at Three Pines Campground.
After months hidden beneath leaves, logs, and pond bottoms, they emerge on the first warm nights to begin their annual ritual.
And what a celebration it is.
Though theyâre only about an inch long, spring peepers create a sound that fills the entire campground. Their high, musical âpeepâŚpeepâŚpeepâ blends with the longer trills of toads and other frogs, turning the lakeside into a natural symphony.
For many of us, itâs one of the most hopeful sounds of the year.
It means:
⢠Warmer days are ahead
⢠The trees will soon begin to bloom
⢠The lake is waking up with new life
If you take a quiet walk near the water at dusk, you might even spot themâtiny frogs tucked along the shoreline, calling into the night. And in the weeks that follow, youâll see the next generation begin, as eggs appear in the shallows and tadpoles start to wiggle through the water.
At Three Pines Campground, spring doesnât just arriveâyou can hear it.
Step outside, take a deep breath, and listen.
That chorus in the distance?
Thatâs the sound of spring starting.
