With heavy hearts, we’re sharing that our Dad, DuWayne Reek, passed away on January 18, 2026, at the age of 87.
If you met DuWayne, you probably remember the same thing many do, his enthusiastic and warm welcome! He genuinely loved greeting guests and hearing about your travels, and he always hated to see you leave. He loved using his riding lawn mower to show guests to their site and would spend hours mowing and trimming the nature trails to make them “the best trails in the world!”
DuWayne searched more than 30 years for land in Northern Wisconsin. When he finally found the perfect spot, his original dream was to create a sanctuary for wildlife. In time, that dream grew into something even bigger, a sanctuary for people too, a peaceful Northwoods escape where nature lovers could truly unwind.
He poured his heart into developing the Nature RV Resort and was thankful to be able to realize his vision of a calm, “wellness escape” where nature is your closest neighbor.
As we look ahead to the upcoming season, we want you to know how excited we are to welcome you back and to honor Dad’s memory in meaningful ways around the resort. Behind Blue Diamond Lake there is a peaceful, more densely forested area our Mom loved and always called the Enchanted Forest, and we named it that in her memory. This season, you’ll see a few more special memorial touches on the property to help keep Dad's spirit and his love for the resort and the Northwoods alive.
We can’t wait to see you, and we will do our best to welcome you with the same warmth and enthusiasm Dad always did.
With gratitude,
Matt and Rachel
