It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the death of our beloved father and proprietor/innkeeper of Sacred Clay Inn. Those of you who knew him, knew an optimistic, hopeful, kind, generous and funny man. He left us after a strong fight to be here longer, enjoying the peace and beauty he’d built at Sacred Clay. He was surrounded by all six of his children in a room filled with love, the music he enjoyed, and a view of trees, blue skies and billowy clouds.
We will have a private family ceremony for him soon, followed by a joyful public celebration of his life at a much later date. We will announce details about the public celebration here.
The Inn at Sacred Clay will close its doors on October 9th, 2022.
Dad cared deeply about protecting our planet and wildlife as well as working to heal the significant and historical rifts and growing polarization between people in our country and in the world. In lieu of flowers, if you wish to make a contribution in Dad’s memory and would like a list of the charities he supported please email belovedfredsfamily [at] gmail [dot] com.
Finally, we would like to thank you all from the depths of our hearts for the bountiful texts, calls, cards, audio messages, videos, and prayers you showered on him and by extension on us. We shared every one with him (often multiple times) and we know for certain that he heard them and felt your love. We are overwhelmed by the love for our Dad. While we will see any messages or comments you may leave here, please do not feel unappreciated if we do not respond. We are all taking time to mourn our loss.
