In 1955 and 1956 I was allowed to be at the pool daily helping the staff lifeguards put out chaise lounges in the morning and help stack them up again at the and of the day. What a great time that was, so memorable. I was like the pool kid mascot at the age of 12. I swam and dove all day and had a blast. In the afternoon, stars like George Burns would come out and relax on a grassy area off to the side in the shade. Glorious. I would turn brown like a pinto bean each summer. There was a predominant, good odor at the pool area. Can anyone guess what that smell was? Thanks for reading, Dennis

I am the creator of this page and my connection is that I worked at the pool with the lifeguards for two full summers helping them put out lounges in the morning and helping stack them late on the afternoon. I would swim and dive the rest of the day. They were asked to let me be there and help for three months a year in 1955 and 1956. I was a lucky kid at the age of 11-12 to have that experience, especially during the mob days. My Father was a Strip personality and knew all the owners and people he needed to know in town to be connected. He had unfortunate business results and we moved back to Los Angeles in 1957.
