Wickiup Cabins Creekside cabins in Spearfish Canyon since 1936. Twenty historic cabins sleeping 2–6 guests, family-owned and surrounded by hiking, fishing, and ATV/UTV trails.

Fire pits, screened porches, and Black Hills beauty. Open May–October. Wickiup has 7 six person cabins, 7 four person and 6 two person cabins and sits 8 miles west of Lead/Deadwood on Highway 85 near Cheyenne Crossing.

Wickiup Cabins is officially closed for the 2026 season!

Thank you to every guest who stayed with us, supported us, and followed along this year.

We’re so grateful for our returning guests, our first-time guests, and everyone who has been part of the Wickiup journey. If you’ve been meaning to stay with us, we’d love to welcome you in 2027.

We’ll begin the 2027 season with a limited number of cabins opening Friday, May 14th, followed by our full seasonal opening on Thursday, May 27th.

We’ll still be available during the off-season by phone, email, and online booking. Stay tuned as we continue making improvements to enhance the guest experience here at Wickiup.

Thank you again for a wonderful 2026 season — enjoy the rest of the year, and we’ll see y’all in 2027!

**Exciting changes are coming to Highlander Cabin!**

We’re transforming Highlander from a six-person cabin into a cozy **two-person retreat!**

Here’s what’s coming:

🛏️ **King-size bed** – Just purchased yesterday, and arguably one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever laid on!

☕ **Lounge screened porch** – The former screeneed sleeping porch will become a relaxing space for morning coffee, reading, and unwinding.

♨️ **Private two-person hot tub** – Tucked just outside the back porch door, complete with privacy fencing for your own secluded getaway.

We’re keeping Highlander’s historic charm while adding some wonderful new comforts. We can’t wait to share the finished space!

There’s just something magical about Wickiup.

When it comes to weddings, you don’t have to try very hard to find a beautiful backdrop. Spearfish Canyon, the towering pines, and the rustic charm of our cabins have a way of making every moment feel special.

This is one of my favorite photos from a past wedding at Wickiup. A beautiful reminder that sometimes the most stunning settings are the ones nature has already created. ❤️

We can’t believe we have just ONE WEEK left of our season! Where has the time gone?!

It’s been another wonderful season filled with familiar faces, new friends, and so many great memories!

We’re already missing Willis the marmot, who decided to call it a season early and head into hibernation!

We’re so grateful for everyone who made this season special. Here’s to soaking up one last week in beautiful Spearfish Canyon!

Hey y’all! We’d love your feedback on a couple things!

1. For those of you who have rented Frontier, what was the most important deciding factor:
- Hot tub?
- Sits creekside?
- Sits a bit more on its own, is a little more private?

2. Which would you prefer:
– Cabin with a creek view, but no hot tub?
– Cabin with a hot tub, but no creek view?

3. Assuming all other factors were the same (except for the rate) would you be more likely to rent a cabin with or without a hot tub? (cabin with hot tub would have a higher rate)
