Boom Days is on.

Things are feeling really good up here β€” lots of rain, Willow Fire containment keeps climbing (55%!), and everybody's in really good spirits as summer kicks off. Boom Days is one of our favorite events of the year, and our favorite part is watching the start and finish of the b***o race right on Harrison Avenue, a block from our front doors.

Leadville is still open for business β€” and if you've never been inside the Tabor Opera House, now is a great time to change that.

A few things happening this weekend:

- Pat Byrne Trio β€” this Friday, July 17
- Beo String Quartet (Free event!) β€” Sunday, July 19 at 2pm

The Tabor also runs tours every Thursday through Sunday all summer. It's my favorite building in town. The history is incredible, the space itself is stunning, and my favorite moment of the tour is standing over Houdini's trap door in the stage.

Locals and first responders get discounted rates ❀️

The Tabor is about 40 steps from the Timberline's front door. If you've been thinking about a Leadville weekend, get up here!

What makes Leadville feel so special is that it's run by small businesses β€” no chains, no strip malls, just families and neighbors who put their lives into this place. If you have a favorite place in Leadville, the best thing you can do right now is spend money here. Buy a gift card! Come up for lunch.

If you're not ready to visit, we get it. You can still support our sweet and gritty down by donating to the Community Disaster Relief Fund. Managed by the Lake County Community Fund, it goes directly to families and community needs on the ground. Link in our bio.

Through the end of July, we're donating 100% of proceeds from Timberline Goods to the Community Disaster Relief Fund. If you've been eyeing a candle, a mug, or some Alpine Provisions toiletries, now's a great time to shop! πŸ’™

Scenes from the last few days, as we enter day three of the Willow Fire.

Watching our national wildlands and some of our most special places burn has been heartbreaking. But as with every hardship up here, the community has shown up in ways that leave us grateful and inspired. At the motel, we get to see how many people come to town to help when we need it most. We're honored to host some of you; thank you for being here.

Stay strong, Leadville. πŸ’™

If you've stayed with us, you've seen this guy's work β€” meet Mel, Mick's grandfather. He's the photographer behind all the art on the walls at The Timberline. He traveled, camped, and hunted all over, and documented his love of the outdoors with his stereo realist camera. We scanned his old slides and filled the rooms with them, and they're one of the things guests compliment us on most.

Mick's dad just found this photo a few months ago. It's Mel in the summer of 1970, standing right on the corner of Highway 24, Harrison Ave, and Silver Drive β€” where 24 turns west β€” on what's now our neighbor's property, the (you can spot its old name, the Mountain Peaks Motel, on the sign behind him).

We knew he'd been through Leadville, but didn't have any documentation of it until this. Pretty neat to see him standing steps from our front door. ❀️

We were so excited to be recognized as a finalist in the Guest Impact category at the Awards in Amsterdam this May β€” such a great event to be part of.

Great guest experience starts with great communication, and has been a game-changer for us at The Timberline. Thank you, Mews, and thank you to everyone who cheered us on!
