A note from our Astronomer, Randy!
"The cloud cover forecast for Saturday night (August 15th) looks very nice. We will begin the evening with a short presentation on comets, their dust trails, and the relationship to meteor showers at 7:30. Hopefully, we will see a few Perseids.

Viewing will begin with the 3 day old crescent 🌙 and a 3rd quarter 50% illuminated Venus. As the sky darkens, the many Messier objects in Scorpius and Sagittarius in the southern sky, Cassiopeia, Andromeda, and Pegasus, in the northeast will present a plethora of targets this site offers. From colorful double star pairs to open clusters, globular clusters, galaxies, and planets, there will be much to see. Did I mention that Saturn with slightly tilted rings will be visible by about 10:00?"

Come if you are interested in the stars, bring a chair, and enjoy the night sky!
