Would you go Tiny in LA
if you could actually own it — land included?
After 7,500+ views and 150+ comments on my last Nextdoor post, a lot of people asked the same thing:
👉 “Can you actually own?”
So I took it a step further.
I found an underutilized parcel of land
Designed a small community layout
And started digging into the code
What I found was interesting:
The City already allows these movable tiny homes for full-time, year-round living —
but limits them to one per property.
So instead of trying to change everything…
👉 I’m exploring a small pilot program to allow multiple homes on one site.
Even more interesting:
There’s already a state law allowing smaller dwelling units to be sold individually — creating a real path to ownership (not just renting).
It hasn’t fully been implemented yet…
but it raises a bigger question:
👉 What if this could become an actual entry point into owning something in LA?
Would you consider it?
Comment “OWN” if you’d want more info or updates as this moves forward.
