The original cabin was a one room hunting cabin with knotty pine walls, wood ceiling and a large stone fireplace for heat. The addition of 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and laundry room converted the cabin into a comfortable home, while keeping the character. The original cabin portion is now the great room, with the kitchen on one side and the family room on the other.
Family room - on one side of the great room is the family room. Comfortable furniture surrounds the large original stone fireplace that has been converted to gas logs. This is a great area to relax, read, or watch tv.
Kitchen - the other side of the great room is the kitchen/eating area. This area includes a 1929 gas stove, granite countertop with a large copper sink, full size refrigerator, island table, a 1950’s style enamel kitchen table and a coffee station.
Bedroom #1 - this bedroom includes a comfortable queen sized bed and a small sitting/reading area. Large windows on one side of the room look over the creek and sliding glass doors on the other side of the room open up to an enclosed deck that has a claw foot outdoor soaking tub (seasonal use only)
Bedroom #2 - the second bedroom has a full size bed with a large window looking out to the creek, just a few feet away, and with a great view of the pond just past the creek.
Bathroom- the bathroom has been recently renovated.
Laundry room - the laundry room has a full size washer and dryer on one side, and an antique library table from a local high school on the other. Step out the back door and your on the back creek side deck.
Back deck - you can sit in the 1950’s metal rocking chairs and enjoy the creek
Serenity shed - This converted shed has large windows on three sides and sits almost in the creek. This space has a reclaimed tin ceiling, tile floor, walls made from antique doors and barnwood from a Lancaster horse barn, and has a large crystal chandelier for light. A covered patio with 2 rocking chairs is the entrance to the shed, and nearby are the outdoor fire pit and outdoor eating area.
Pond - walk across the footbridge and your at the pond. The 2 acres that includes the pond is a jointly owned and shared space. Relax on the wooden 2 person swing surrounded by hostas and hydrangeas overlooking the pond.
Guests also have full access to the pond area, this area is shared. It’s a quiet peaceful area, no loud parties please. No swimming or boating in the pond please.
The cabin is located in the Mahoney valley, 10 minutes outside the town of Lehighton, and a 15 minute drive to Jim Thorpe.
It’s a beautiful area with plenty of attractions. Enjoy the local restaurants, and antique shops. There is a working drive in movie theater just a couple miles away. Many hiking and biking trails, including an easy walking (or bike) trail along the Lehigh canal, a 5 mile gravel path running parallel to the Lehigh river (10 minute drive). More serious hikers have plenty of options as well. The closest ski resorts are Blue Mountain (30 minute drive) and Jack Frost (40 minute drive).
