Many of you have reached out asking how you can help, which we are so very thankful for. Boots on the ground help for clean up (chainsaws, gravel and rubble clean up, rebuilding the store), supplies (cleaning, totes, etc) are all appreciated.

We've had requests on ways to donate directly, so we have also set up a fund to rebuild the campground and store

We intend to rebuild the store above the flood plain while salvaging as much of the original building as possible to preserve its history and character. We’ll be reaching out to Amish builders so the new structure honors the old look and feel rather than appearing as a generic new build. We also plan to raise the road for better access to the float yard, helping protect guests’ property during any future flash floods.

To those who have already offered support—thank you. To the Lesterville area community and beyond, we’ve vetted the following local businesses that also need help and shared ways to donate to them as well.

Wilderness will be open for guests beginning Thursday.

Emergency Crews: FEMA and various organizations, including repair and road crews and insurance agencies, are in the area. We continue to welcome them to grab food and rest.

Go slow on the gravel road. Many have asked how they can help- we will be posting more soon. We are truly blessed to have such an incredible place to gather.

A heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you who has reached out via text, phone, and email. To those who have donated, volunteered, and cared for the campers we brought in for shelter we are immensely grateful.

Electric has been restored. Peola road is being worked on (thank you County Road Dept!!). Our goal is to be ready for guests Wednesday!

Much recovery in the area and at our campground in the coming days, weeks, and months. But forever grateful that all guests and staff are safe. This horrific event could have had a much different outcome- thank you to all of the first responders and recovery teams.

And our guests: thank you. Your calm and grace shown in this situation is testament to what amazing and wonderful people we get to meet and host at Wilderness.

Everyone is home and safe. We will share relief efforts here soon, as so many in the community have lost everything. Please continue to keep them and the surrounding areas in your thoughts and prayers.

Everyone is safe and above flood level. Staff has checked in with everyone and is on site checking the grounds and on guests. We are working with officials on monitoring rain, flood levels and road conditions. At this time it is safer to stay at the resort than to travel out on the roads. Please do not drive to Lesterville at this time.

If you are scheduled to check in today, please keep an eye on the flash flooding and road conditions in the area. We will update as we are able to.

There’s really nothing that compares to the calmness of the river gently flowing.
