July 4 is remembered by many fans as the day Lewis Carroll first told the story that would become Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland in 1862, during a boat trip with the Liddell children.
From that strange beginning came one of literature’s most surreal journeys: a girl falling down a rabbit hole into a world of impossible logic, mad tea parties, talking animals, vanishing cats, and queens obsessed with heads.
More than a children’s story, Alice in Wonderland became a symbol of imagination, rebellion against ordinary reality, and the beautiful madness of asking too many questions.
