There’s a moment when the ocean pulls back farther than usual… and suddenly the coastline turns into an entirely different world.

That’s a minus tide—and it’s the BEST time for tide pooling on the Oregon Coast.

When the water drops below zero feet, hidden ecosystems are exposed that you simply cannot see at regular tide levels. Think of it as the ocean handing you a backstage pass 🐚⭐️

At minus tides along the Lincoln City coast, you can find:
⭐ bright purple and orange sea stars gripping the rocks
⭐ neon green anemones slowly opening and closing
⭐ tiny hermit crabs hustling between tide pools
⭐ mussels, limpets, and barnacles layered like living art
⭐ sometimes even sculpin fish hiding in shallow pools

It’s quiet, it’s wild, and it feels like stepping into another planet without leaving the beach 🌍💙

Right out front of Coho Oceanfront Lodge is a whole secret world… and most people walk right past it. 👀🌊

When the tide rolls out, the rocks turn into tiny oceans filled with sea stars, anemones, crabs, and little fish darting around like they’ve got somewhere important to be. It’s like nature’s aquarium — but better, because it’s wild and alive and changing by the minute.
