Thank You!

Dear long time friends and fellow admirers of the Crow’s Nest and to those of you who have just recently discovered her enchanting charms, thank you!

Thank you for allowing the Crow’s Nest to envelop you, whether for a week or a weekend, (she has a way of sneaking into our hearts, leaving us longing to spend more time with her).

We are beyond grateful for your continued appreciation and support for the Crow’s Nest!

For myself personally, I know the Crow’s Nest has a way of speaking directly to our hearts. The moment we walk through her door, she has a way of dissolving the outside world and uncovering in us that feeling, “That all is right with the world”.

Her charms are enchanting and plentiful. Whether it is one or all of the following: The private endless view that follows you to every corner, the warmth and comfort she exudes, the ease to be on the beach within a minute ~ with miles stretched out before you ~ beckoning you to decompress and connect with the vast beauty of nature, the knowledge that the joy your 4 legged best friend experiences ~ is just as important as the joy you experience, the hidden surprises that say, “You Matter”, the comfortable furniture, the large private deck where you can spend a lazy afternoon just listening to the gentle waves, while smelling the soft salty breezes, amongst the 100s of CDs ~ you find one of your favorite recording artists and spend an hour just happily reminiscing ~ as music tends to do, amazed that you find everything you need to create “that” special meal, dining by candle light while watching the vibrant color-saturated sunset, laughing while playing a board game, realizing it has been ages since you last made time to play and finally ~ cracking the window open so that you will fall asleep to the song of rhythmic soothing ocean waves.

Again, thank you for your love and support for the Crow’s Nest!

Dear friends,
It has been a year since we said hello. Want to let those of you who have not been to the Nest in sometime ~ that we recently spruced her up again. New vinyl plank flooring through out, including the bathroom. Painted the bathroom again, (same color as it has been).

All new appliances: new microwave above the new range, new dishwasher and … yet another new refrigerator, (the 3rd in 4 years, yikes). I often believe it would have been best to keep our grandparent’s appliances ~ at least they would still be operable. 🤔.

Serta couch that now can pull out to a cushy lounge or queen size bed. We sanded down and re-varnished most all of the sun faded or scratched furniture, along with the window sills. All new bedding again. Remodeled the closet, with a fold down rack that holds 2 suit cases and can store shoes beneath. New plush area rugs.

An electrician ran a plug to the deck. A long desired item. Along with a few more bits and pieces.

We are hoping to put in an adjustable base for the king bed. Ourselves included, we understand that once you have an adjustable bed, you miss it when traveling.

Thank you for the suggestion in the journal that we install more safety grab bars, we implemented that almost after we read it.

Photos to follow.

The evacuation has been lifted for Lincoln City. The air quality is *better* than in the Willamette Valley. You can get through on every thoroughfare, but there will be a pilot car on highway 18. As of 9/16/20 the Echo Mountain fire is 40% contained. Chinook Winds is open and some other restaurants and stores. Covid restrictions still in place.
Please keep helping displaced wildlife 🤲. They have been breathing the smoke and chemicals for weeks, burnt land will be too hot to touch perhaps for a year. I have done the following and I live in the center of a busy area. You would not believe the birds, bunnies, squirrels, butterflies and insects that are here, just a small haven to help them survive.

HOW YOU CAN HELP WITH THE WILDFIRES. PUT WORRY AND SADNESS INTO ACTION THAT MAY BE THE MOST POWERFUL THING YOU EVER DO.
Please put out plant saucers of water or flat bottom bird baths, throw bird seed in a corner of your yard, smear peanut butter on trees, fill a kiddy pool with water, buy old fruit and set out, keep a sprinkler on low by some bushes so wildlife can clean the smoke particles off and it creates an area with more oxygen and running water attracts wildlife, fill plant saucers with mud and keep wet for insects and butterflies, immediately plant native trees and bushes - it will be all they have in the near future - the wild fires are so hot they are sterilizing the soil, buy as many hummingbird feeders as you can and change daily as hummingbirds are so sensitive to the smoke particles, which is not just burned vegetation, but 1,000’s of chemicals released from burnt homes (dissolve 3 cups of hot tap water to 1 cup of sugar - excess can be refrigerated for a few days), carry jugs of water in your car to put out any sparks/water trees in distress, wash the smoke particles off your trees so they can breath, wear a wet rag or bandana over your mask when outside.
What you do this very minute may be the most important thing you ever do. With 500 species already going extinct a month worldwide, one extinction creates a snow ball effect. Thank you.

FRONT PORCH AND BACK DECK PHOTOS:

1. Relax knowing your children and dogs are safe with a front porch gate and back deck railing that prevents a small dog from slipping through.

2. Choice of multiple places and positions for the umbrella.

3. Open the storage shed to create a wind break for the gas BBQ. Everything you need is provided for barbecuing. Though you may need to pick up a small green canister of propane, if necessary.

4. The comfortable multi-position lounge chairs are fantastic. The large chair/lounges can be placed anywhere on the deck and can be positioned from chairs, a chair with foot rest, to a partial lounge or to a full sun bathing bed.

5. Secluded back deck. You will enjoy the privacy of the Crow’s Nest. The entrance is situated away from the other 5 units at the Beachfront Garden Inn. A private entry to the Crow’s Nest is through a beautiful arched courtyard. An enchanting covered front porch with seat greats you. You can lock the gate on the porch for safety for children or pets. Open the large lockable sliding doors to the mud room and immediately you are looking out a screened window that perfectly frames the ocean. Take a left to enter the unit behind another lockable door with a peep hole. Or take a right from the mud room and a screened window door opens to amazing views of the ocean and north to Cascade Head. There is complete privacy on the deck. No one’s windows look in on the deck and as the deck is set back a little, so you have privacy from eyes on the beach.

6. The large dining chairs and table can also be moved anywhere on the deck, and extra folding chairs are kept in the storage shed, which you are welcome to take down to the beach.

7. The Beachfront Garden Inn also has perfectly placed Adirondack chairs for sipping a glass of wine, while immersing yourself in the unobstructed view and experience of amazing sunsets.

8. The mud room has loads of hooks to hang all your outerwear, lots of storage for bulky items, such as coolers, a stool, shoe horn, shoe tray, shoe/glove dryer, furniture covers, dog supplies and large towels to wipe off yourself, Fido or outdoors furniture. All this helps keep the interior of the unit comfortably free of pervasive sand.
