Our name itself is aspirational.

In 1876, the privilege of naming this hotel was delegated to Mrs. Moorhead Wright, a close friend of the original hoteliers. A century & a half later, her optimism still echoes.

Through decades of growth and challenge, the Capital Hotel mirrored the city itself—first thriving as a hub of social & political life, then weathering the Great Depression, & facing near-demolition in the 1970’s. Its survival is a testament to vision & persistence. Restoration led by local architect Ed Cromwell in the early 1980s, followed by careful stewardship from the Stephens Family, preserved the hotel while introducing the comforts of modern luxury.

Today, the Capital Hotel stands as Little Rock’s oldest surviving hotel & a living story of resilience & continuity.
