A quick heads-up for anyone wanting fresh, locally ground cornmeal this weekend.

✨ McHargue’s Mill will be grinding TOMORROW( Sunday October 25th ) from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM! ✨

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTE FOR VISITORS: With the recent lack of rain, our water levels are low. If you want to see the mill working in action, we strongly recommend coming closer to 1:00 PM than 3:00 PM—we’ll likely run out of water power before 3:00!

We are almost at the very end of our grinding season! If you want the absolute finest cornmeal around, now is the time to grab it:

📍 At the Mill tomorrow during grinding hours
📍 At the Museum Gift Shop or Campground Store on non-grinding days

Remember: McHargue’s Mill Cornmeal—the finest around since 1812! 📜🌾

Announcement: With Camp Spook #1, 2026 coming to an end tonight, we wanted to give everyone a heads up for booking the 2027 Camp Spooks!

Next year the first Camp Spook will be from October 3rd - October 17th, 2027. Bookings will open Monday (October 19th) at noon (12pm est).

The second Camp Spook will run from October 17th - October 31st, 2027. Bookings for those will be open on Monday (November 2nd) at noon (12pm est).

Camp site reservations must have the full 14 nights entered for the reservation dates. For the cottages it is a 7 night minimum and you must enter October 10th - October 17th, 2027 for the Camp Spook #1 and October 24th - October 31st, 2027 for Camp Spook #2.

Reminder - these reservations are made through the website (the link is located at the bottom of this post if you need it).

🌟 History, adventure, and Appalachian heritage in action! 🌟

Last Friday, we had the absolute pleasure of hosting students from the Corbin School of Innovation! 🎓✨

These bright young scholars braved the wild history of Daniel Boone's footsteps along Boone’s Trace and discovered the impactful story of the McKnitt party.

To wrap up their journey, they explored the Mountain Life Museum, immersing themselves in the rich culture and history of our Appalachian roots! 🛖📜
