Spring is springing! It has been warming up, and today, we now have 5 cabins open for the season. We've had guests enjoying the end of winter and coming of spring. Now, here in the month of May, we have a lot of availability with the extra cabins open. We have a rare opportunity to be able to grab a longer warm weather stay here at The Pines if you can come in May. Our calendar is filling up, so don't hesitate to make a reservation by calling 402-273-1037.

The Pines is having a big yard sale starting right now. The containers and all that was in them must go! We want it all gone so bad that we are accepting any donation amount for a majority of all that's here. Yup, we want you to take boxes so we can get rid of the shipping containers that this stuff filled. WE WANT OUR YARD BACK. Don't be shy. Come ready to load up. All items are first come, first serve.

More pictures in the Facebook Comments.

A year ago, we started our journey here at the historic Pines. Throughout the year, we have cleared every building to get a fresh start. These two red containers were the last spaces to get to. All that was in the shipping containers is now on the lawn, ready for you to take home. If we can get all this to homes, it means we can finally get these eye sores off the Pines! We need your help to get this done. Come rummage and tell your friends.

Give us a call at 402-273-1037 if you have any questions.

Do note that all these items were the things we felt we couldn't take to the dump, but we have no use for them.

We are open to offers on the shipping container, lawn mower, propane heaters, and a few other higher value items.

We have had such a beautiful and productive winter here at the Pines. This snow came in last night, and we are thankful for the moisture we have been gifted.

This is Cabin 8. We are excited to start offering this cabin as an all seasons cabin. After watching how the cabins handle the biting cold, we are confident to say we are now keeping the Pines open through the whole year. That gives us two cabins, Cabin 8 and Cabin 11, that we are currently heating and allowing guests to visit in cold weather. Cabin 8 has a full-size bed, and cabin 11 has a queen size bed.

Call us at 402-273-1037 to reserve a stay before the spring or get first dibs on your preferred weekend for the year. Popular weekends are already filling, so don't hesitate to call and chat if you want to plan in advance.

As the season moves on, we look forward to what restoration projects we will accomplish this year. Bee and I are most excited to start uncovering and bringing the old wood floors back to life.

Let this year be a joyful and productive one for us all.

P.S. - I love the shape of the two large pine trees pictured here.

We have opened our books for 2026. Call our landline at 402-273-1037 to book your visit here at The Pines.

Here is our game plan for the year. For the next couple of months, we will be offering 1 heated cabin. Come May 1st, we will offer 5 cabins. If the weather is fair, we may be able to add more cabins to the lineup as we finish up restoration projects. Our elders say things will take 3 times as long as you expect, so no promises.

All reservations must be done over a phone call as it is important for us to speak with every guest prior to your visit. We value person to person communication and appreciate your understanding. Once you have reserved a cabin, your name goes in these little books so we can have clear records to keep track of all the moving parts.

We are approaching the end of our first full year hosting The Pines and have enjoyed our winter here in the valley. Just like our first season, all cabins are available through donations only. We loved how the donations have allowed flexibility for so many new and old faces as they visit this beautiful area. Our vision is forming, and we can't wait to continue making memories with everyone as the season comes into full swing.

We have Cabin 3 (2 full-size beds) and Cabin 4 (2 full-size beds and one twin bed bunk) available for August 21st - 27th. Cabin 2 (1 full-size bed) is now available for Labor Day weekend.

The weather has been kind this year. Another big rain came last night here in Long Pine. We are thankful for that.

Cabin 3 has three beautiful cedar trees standing as sentries at the stoop. 🌲🫑🌲🌲 It is available this weekend after a guest canceled their reservation today. If you feel like coming out to the forest on this 80° weekend for some sun and water adventure, please call us! 402-273-1037

We hope these pictures give you a sense of the space as it is today. When we first moved in as hosts of this 100 year old set of cabins, we started working with our own hands to do our part in preserving this space. We have visions of reviving the old wood floors and other historic assets this space has.

This year, we are offering the cabins we feel are the most stable. Five out of the eight cabins are open for booking this season. We were tempted to close for a year to give us space to get right to work on all the cabins, but after receiving 20+ requests to stay in the cabins as they are, we decided there was a need more urgent than we expected.

After we did necesarry under the hood repairs to five cabins, we opened them for booking. Our first weekend with guests was on Father's Day. Since that weekend, we have had 50 different groups stay, and every weekend has been plum full in the cabins. Some guests have come to revisit a space they have many old memories in. Some guests have come for an affordable nights stay. We are thankful for the strong community we are members of.

Down into the gorge we go! Today, we had a group offer to do some community building work during their stay. A group offered the same a few weeks ago. This is the gorge path that both groups worked on. Gathering wood and ash to the path will help control erosion on this steep incline. The path winds down the slope to help make for an easier approach to an otherwise challenging space to access.

It is our hope to one day be able to encourage all our guests to trek down to the bottom of the valley. Down there, a wonderful wind broken space teems with growth and wildlife. πŸ¦ŒπŸ¦ƒπŸ˜ŠπŸ¦…πŸ¦«

The weekend of August 22nd-24th remains completely open in the cabin booking schedule. Multiple cabins are available, so if you have a large group looking to gather, that would be a great weekend. We have a lot of availability in September if you need some time to prepare. Cabins are available by donations, so you can be confident your stay will be affordable. Trails and Creek access just outside your door here at The Pines.

There is a variety of availability in our cabins starting August 3rd-14th. Also, there are many weekends later this year still yet to be booked. Come enjoy the beautiful growth we are having after all this rain. Call 402-273-1037 to book and check our availability.

These sunflowers were planted by the birds! Here at The Pines, you will see a lot of growth. We are looking at what is in the soil before undergoing major landscaping work this late fall. This is our first year here, and everything is a surprise to us. We've seen asparagus, oak trees, mulberry trees, choke cherries, wild greens, and many other valuable food crops like these sunflowers popping out of the grass. While mowing can be nice, we value the foods that grow naturally that are often cut back by large-scale mowing. We harvest and eat these foods too.

We vision paths through densely planted gardens with a clearing here and there for our land management. Everything is a work in progress, and growth takes time.

A view here at the pines from the top of an old and tall cedar tree. Now, why are we running The Pines as a donation-based space? The clearest answer I can give is that we feel led to do so. God's earth is a gift to us. It tracks for us to give access to the space we steward in a way that feels accessible. We want people to get time in clean air, clean water, and beautiful land. There is abundance here. Come and enjoy what this little part of the world has to offer with all your senses. Your support and time help bring growth to our young family and further expand opportunities here at The Pines. 🌲🌲🌲

This weekend will be our fifth week open this year. We are thankful to have had a full house each week. We owe it to such a longstanding community of people who have enjoyed The Pines for many years. Thank you for the support, and we look forward to what the rest of the summer brings.

There are some days still available here in July, and August is starting to fill up. Please give us a call so we can have you out sometime this season.

Also, I just wanted to point out that this frog has been sitting here for a long time. Is it a frog, or is it a toad? 🐸
