Loon Lake lodging in northeastern Washington

Proud of Sgt. John Gately-far right kneeling, son of New York lawyer Charles Gately, father of my husband Joseph Gately. One of our AMERICAN Heros, 8th Air Force, Flew 35 missions in the European theatre in about 18 months. His crew flew ahead of Patton’s army to liberate France. The liberation of France took from 6 June 1944 – 8 May 1945

Today’s his birthday. Happy heavenly birthday John!He was born 6 June 1925. The majority of his missions were when he was 19 years old.
I find his personal log of his missions most interesting. It shows what these young men did.
He frequently spoke about his life during this time.
I loved listening to his stories. And I have his racing Pigeon box!!! He so enjoyed telling me about that in his younger pre war life. He lived a good life and passed in his 90’s. Miss you John.
