Zane Farmer shot “Your Soul” for edgar on the Mini LF paired with TRIBE7 Blackwing7s.
“When choosing what equipment to use on any given project, I always take an emotion-first approach. On a music video, the goal is to understand how to best marry the song and picture. For “Your Soul,” I knew the director Chris Bradford was heavily inspired by high-energy, alternative mixed media. I felt that Tribe7’s were the perfect choice because their character is so easily controlled; this gave me the opportunity to introduce more or less as the energy of the music shifted. Additionally, they offer subtle flares, which Chris was excited about, and a medium level of contrast that made it easy to push our look even further in the grade. The Tribe7’s controlled distortion softens contrast in the highlights instead of clipping hard, so speculars bloom rather than break. Flares come gentle and warm, never clinical. Color renders slightly muted, a touch of that vintage roll-off that keeps skin tones from going digital-sharp.
