Pyramid Lake Recreation Area and Campground

Good morning everyone, the lake is currently open for shoreline access and private boating but boat rentals are closed today due to yesterday’s downpour, maintenance needs to be done to rent them back out.

I am hoping to get things running and re-open for Friday - Sunday, boat shop will be closed next week due to the storms in the area. The lake is scheduled to be open everyday still but be aware there might/will be delays on the road and exits due to frequent muds and floods that are completely out of our control.

Sorry for the inconvenience but it is the bad time of year for weather in our area. Feel free to call before you travel.

We are fully aware of this post at 5:30pm and no we have not heard anything regarding this. We are left out just as much as everyone else and will find out more information tomorrow morning by 5am.

The only answers we get is the same we provide you all. Water fluctuates daily via DWR and completely out of our control.

We apologize for the inconveniences this past month has caused everyone. We are aware fishing spots are very limited in our area and are doing everything we can to help improve the situation by cleaning up after the storms and relaying any information given as soon as we receive any.

If I hear any news in the morning I will do a follow up post but your best bet is to CALL BEFORE YOU GO.

We are back open with much better conditions than last week. Water levels are still low and murky so boaters need to be extra cautious for submerged hazards that may be drifting the lake and landslide areas that are all still very active.

Boat rentals should open back up tomorrow with limited boats as we are still fixing damages from the storm. Shop will be open this weekend for any items and boats will be available throughout the day.

Gates open at 7am for standard entry, boat shop closes by 3pm and lake closes by 5pm.

We are happy to say we are anticipating re-opening Friday. Things are still a work in progress and lots of debris in the lake, everything is being finalized through the state but Vaquero day use area and Emigrant landing should be open for shoreline access this Friday at 7am.

Boat shop will be closed until we are able to do some work on the fleet.

Pleade avoid all caution areas and notify staff of any other hazards if noticed as we are doing our best to get the park back in order and open as soon as possible for everyone to bring in the new year!

Good evening everyone, due to storm damages in the area, we are currently closed until further notice. We will be working to make the area safe and usable as soon as possible and will keep everyone updated. Please check out California Department of Water Resources for further information and updates as well. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

As we have not heard any additional updates, we will be attempting to open today. We are currently unsure of water levels or road conditions but will keep everyone updated as soon as possible. If you are attempting to drive through the area, please be very cautious and bring spare clothes and supplies for your travels, just in case of any delays or unexpected conditions.

Pyramid will be closed on Wednesday December 24th due to water levels and weather conditions via state order. We apologize for short notice as we just found out, stay safe and have a merry Christmas everyone. We will hope to be reopen as normal on the 26th!

We are happy to announce we received another trout plant!!

This is the third one since the season started so plenty of opportunities!

Open 7 days a week closed Christmas and New Years Day.

We are excited to announce that we received Trout this week from Mt. Lassen and the fire bans have also been lifted!

Campfires and BBQ’s are now permitted on site once again!
Campsites are available for only $26 a night and standard entrance to the lake is $15 for day use!

Come join us for the remainder of the warm season and make some memories!

Attention to everyone planning on visiting the lake as summer winds down, we are currently under extreme fire risk resulting in a strict fire ban. This means no open flames or stoves of any kind are permitted anywhere in the Los Angeles National Forest or the Los Padres National Forest.

Please do your part and help keep the area and state safe during these times and stay aware of any potential hazards!

We are excited to announce that our previous algae treatment was very successful and we are no longer under any advisories at the moment for algae!!

We are still opening at 6am and close at 8pm.

All boaters must ensure to bring all required saftey equipment, boater’s card, and current registration to be permitted on the water.

Boat rentals are first come, first served and stop at 4pm, must be returned no later than 6pm.

Vaquero day use area is open 7am-7pm.

Campgrounds still have vacancy and currently not under any fire restrictions.

**updated information- lake will be closed for the entire day on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 for algae treatment.**

***Attention***

Pyramid lake day use area and boat rentals will be closed on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in order to treat the water in efforts to fight off the ongoing Algae Bloom.

We will resume normal business hours the following day opening at 6am.

Currently, Emigrant landing swim beach is closed due to "Warning" level of algae, Vaquero Swim beach remains open from 7am-7pm at a "Caution" warning.
