New 113-room hotel proposed near San Jose-Campbell border
San Jose residents living near the San Jose-Campbell border could
see a new hotel sprout in the area.
Los Angeles-based A&Z Development LLC last week submitted a site development permit application to the city of San Jose to build a new 113-room, six-story hotel at 1212 S. Wi******er Blvd. and 1224 S. Wi******er Blvd.
The proposed hotel, totaling 118,528 square feet and up to 65 feet in height, would be built on almost seven-tenths of an acre. It would be located about a mile north from downtown Campbell and about a mile south from the Wi******er Mystery House and Santana Row.A&Z Development plans to demolish two existing single-family
homes to construct the hotel, and in August submitted a separate application to the city of San Jose to rezone the property from single-family residential to commercial. The rezoning application and site development application are both under review by the city's planning department for initial comment.
A&Z Development did not respond to a request for comment. The hotel would include a level of underground parking and parking on the first floor totaling 78 spaces. It would feature a wooden interior and also offer a ballroom, bar area and restaurant area, according to information provided to the Silicon Valley Business Journal by Sam Monfared, president of Carpira Design Group, the designer of this project. While real estate developers have been purchasing hotel projects in downtown San Jose or proposing new hotels in San Jose's SoFA District, there isn't a hotel within a mile in all directions from the site of the proposed hotel on Wi******er Boulevard. The hotel nearest to the project site appears to be Larkspur Landing Campbell at 550 West Hamilton Ave. in Campbell. The Pruneyard mixed-use project in Campbell, about two miles away, also includes a 171-roomDoubleTree by Hilton hotel property that changed hands earlier this year
