Last week, we celebrated our 2026 Meta Data Center Community Action Grant recipients at the Los Lunas Data Center — and it was a joy to bring together this year’s grant recipients, community partners, Meta team members, and local leaders!

Through our Data Center Community Action Grants program, Meta provides funding for nonprofits and schools — addressing critical community needs by putting technology to use for community benefit, enabling people to build strong, sustainable communities, improving local STEAM education — to support the long-term vitality of Valencia County. Learn more on this year’s projects:

Belen Consolidated Schools: To engage gifted K–8 students in hands-on aerospace engineering and satellite design to master the principles of physics, robotics and orbital mechanics.

Belen Consolidated Schools - High Schools: To empower high school students to design and operate a solar-powered greenhouse that integrates renewable energy engineering with sustainable agricultural research.

Belen Public Library: To foster lifelong learning and innovation by expanding diverse collections and enhancing the community makerspace with modern technology and art supplies.

Explora: To introduce students and educators to computer science through collaborative programming, game design and immersive workshops with industry professionals.

Los Lunas Museum of Heritage and Arts, Government: To bring hands-on robotics, coding, and 3D design experiences directly to middle school classrooms through a community-enhanced learning initiative.

Los Lunas Schools: To provide students with immersive work-based learning and industry-recognized certifications through virtual reality career exploration and technical training.

National Museum of Nuclear Science & History: To expand equitable access to high-quality STEAM education by providing monthly free admission days for Valencia County residents, students and veterans.

New Mexico Technology Council: To equip high school students and young adults with practical AI skills, ethical literacy and technical guidance to prepare for the future digital workforce.

We R4Creating: To empower educators and students through a “train-the-trainer” model that establishes sustainable, student-led STEM leadership and peer-mentoring programs.

Valencia County Amateur Radio Association: To expand the middle school amateur radio and robotics elective, providing students with technical skills, field trips and FCC licensure opportunities.

Valencia County Literacy Council: To advance digital equity by strengthening rural tech centers and launching a mobile library that delivers technology and tutoring to isolated adult learners.

Valencia Shelter Services: To create secure digital pathways that link rural survivors to 24/7 crisis intervention, virtual advocacy and technology-driven safety planning.

Big news in clean energy ☀️🔋

Last week, Meta announced two partnerships pushing the boundaries of what's possible for powering AI infrastructure.

We're working with Overview Energy to bring solar power from space to Earth—satellites collecting sunlight around the clock and beaming it to solar farms on the ground. And we're partnering with Noon Energy on ultra-long-duration storage that can hold clean energy for days, not just hours.

These are the kinds of investments that help strengthen the grid and support reliable power for our data center operations here and across the country.

🌎🧊 April is Earth month — and we're proud to share a closer look at the water restoration work happening right here in New Mexico.

Water is a shared and vital resource — and at Meta, our goal is to become water positive in 2030. That means restoring more water than we consume in our operations, while partnering with local communities to boost supply, enhance quality, and protect ecosystems.

Hear from our Water Program leads on what it means to be responsible water stewards — and why the work we do near the Rio Grande and across our New Mexico landscape matters so much.

Meta has set a goal to be water positive in 2030, restoring more water to the environment than our data centers use. And that journey starts in communities like ours.

This week we celebrated International Data Center Day. For us, it's an opportunity to reflect on what matters most: the data center communities we call home and celebrating the people who make these communities so special.

In 2025 alone, we supported more than 430 local projects and donated over $11.8 million to schools, nonprofits, and small businesses across our 30 communities in the United States, Europe, and Asia. This is part of our long-term commitment to data center communities where since 2011, Meta has invested over $94 million in 3,700 local projects.

From supporting STEM innovation in classrooms to workforce training programs, revitalizing community parks to helping small businesses grow — we’re grateful for all the partnerships we have with local organizations that are dedicated to investing in their communities.

Margaux Mizell's name is now among New Mexico's most impactful women in technology, and we couldn't be happier to celebrate with her!

As part of the 2026 New Mexico Technology Council’s Women in Tech Awards, Margaux represents the best of what the industry has to offer. Her dedication to operational excellence and mentoring the next generation of tech professionals makes her a true role model.

The best part? Having the opportunity to support Margaux at last week’s event and hear her share her story in her own powerful words.

Congratulations to Margaux and thank you to the New Mexico Technology Council for recognizing such an amazing group of leaders! More about the awards: https://nmtechcouncil.org/nm_women_in_tech-awards/

Celebrating our partnership with Explora!

At the Los Lunas Data Center, we’re proud to team up with Explora Science Center & Children’s Museum to help spark curiosity and build real-world tech skills for students all across Valencia County.

Through this partnership, we’ve reached 493 students, 20 classrooms, and delivered 70+ programs in our community — connecting kids to hands-on learning experiences related to coding, physics, biology, and beyond!

And the impact is clear:
✅ 1 in 2 students shared interest in learning more about tech careers
✅ 61% strongly agreed they can use technology to bring their ideas to life
✅ 7 in 10 students want to keep learning tech like programming, game design, and 3D tools.

We’re grateful to Explora for being such a strong partner — and to the educators and students who are doing the work.
