My family and I were moving to this area and needed a place to stay until our home was ready. We were moving to this area, an area we chose specifically because of the idyllic country setting and the outward kindness of the locals. And Antler & Oak, with its hosts Bob and Buena, only further validated these reasons for moving to this area. Antler & Oak is a beautifully renovated farmhouse with very thoughtful interior decorating, it comes off like some high-end county hotel, and well maybe that just what it is? We took both rooms, so we got a feel for the whole place. You essentially are given, if you get both rooms, a whole house to yourself because they split up their massive house in two. Either way, if you take one room or both, you get plenty of space in a nice bedroom on the 2nd floor with a country feel (wood floors and pretty antique furniture), yet decked out with exceptionally comfortable beds and an overly nice bathroom. Both with amazing views. Every night we looked out our windows to see the stars and in the morning, to see the beauty of the country landscape as the sun rose on it. Then with the first floor, you have a very nice kitchen with decent amenities that you're free to use and nice decorations, it was lovely to just sit in there, which we did many a night. Then personally, I spent a lot of time in the living room, where there are very comfortable chairs, a couch, a great desk to work on, and a record player, all great to use when you look out at the windows at a truly inspiring landscape. We spent a lot of time in there doing work with the aid of their wifi, that works very well (if you need it). Then there is the porch, with totally perfect rocking chairs, which we sat on many an afternoon with hummingbirds humming around us and books in hand, watching the sunset on one side of the flat farming country landscape, and the moon rises on the other. Then stick around a bit more to see all the stars in the sky. We also regularly took walks around the Antler & Oak's large estate and were just made so happy by how nice everything looked and how calm the countryside can make you. So Antler & Oak, the b&b is perfect. I would truly recommend it just for what is inside and outside of it alone. Especially if you are going to spend time in Raleigh, Durham, or Chapel Hill. You're only 30 minutes from Raleigh, 45 from Durham, and little under an hour away from Chapel Hill. You won't really get as good of an NC country experience in some hotel. The area of Louisburg and its surrounding small country cities have a lot to do if you want a country experience. The people are also overwhelmingly kind and nice...(ran out of room on Airbnb site)
